I feel that we all need to find a way to contribute to our communities and those around us, and this is my way of doing so. Having experienced my own mental health challenges, I appreciate how our mental health can shape our experience of the world. I am drawn to helping to create a sense of change, hope and possibility together with my clients.
I enjoy being flexible and personalizing sessions to your needs. I draw from feminist-narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, self-compassion and indigenous approaches. I include gratitude, vulnerability and mindfulness techniques. I take a holistic approach, looking to connect our feelings, mind, body and spirit, all with the goal of living in a way that matters to us. Mental health is about more than solving problems – through building on your strengths, I want to help you feel good about who you are.
In session, I tend to take a kind, relaxed approach. I can be direct and gentle, and believe that while challenging, therapy can also (and maybe should) be fun, silly and creative. I hope we can work hard together and have fun. I’m open to what you bring to session — whether it’s intense or calm, silly or serious, more formal or full of swearing.
I believe in partial expertise — that as a client and a therapist, we both have expertise, but what we know is incomplete. Only together, as a team, can we combine our expertise to create a full picture.
